Yesterday I went out to meet a close friend who is also a translator. When we were chatting she causally mentioned we translators are like baby-sitters, nannies. A temporary labor when people pays we go. You know people, it is sad.
I always believe the only one who make the calls is yourself. If you think you are lousy then you are. If you think you are useless, than damn, you are. Even mostly the power is not on our hands. Very less people knows it is worthless to blame others. Because others are others, they have their own opinion and wont listen to you and follow your even very right idea. But you are. You always are. You can talk to yourself anytime possible do not need to make calls or appointments. You know yourself much better, or I could say you have the position to know yourself the best compare with any other human being in the entire world. What do you want and what you got on your hands. Then how. How to use what your got for what you want.
I was a servant years ago when I was in hotel industry. But I never feel I am lower than any other person. It is important to live with pride no matter who you are, no matter what you do and how much money you have. It is much more important to respect yourself than ask other to respect you. Because again you are the only one to make the calls. Because the true power is the one who comes inside.
All my clients pay me work temporarily, I am always ready to go. I respect them as they respect me. It is not just something like because I am an elegant lady they help me with luggage, they open doors for me. It is they respect my opinion and they respect me as a strong person inside, they respect my dedication and appreciate my endeavors to reach their goals. Seriously if any of them thought I am a hired baby-sitter. I would simply tell them this is my last day. No matter pay me or not. I am very happy to leave.
