When we were chatting she causally mentioned we translators are like baby-sitters, nannies. A temporary labor when people pays we go. You know people, it is sad.

I always believe the only one who make the calls is yourself. If you think you are lousy then you are. If you think you are useless, than damn, you are. Even mostly the power is not on our hands. Very less people knows it is worthless to blame others. Because others are others, they have their own opinion and wont listen to you and follow your even very right idea. But you are. You always are. You can talk to yourself anytime possible do not need to make calls or appointments. You know yourself much better, or I could say you have the position to know yourself the best compare with any other human being in the entire world. What do you want and what you got on your hands. Then how. How to use what your got for what you want.

I was a servant years ago when I was in hotel industry. But I never feel I am lower than any other person. It is important to live with pride no matter who you are, no matter what you do and how much money you have. It is much more important to respect yourself than ask other to respect you. Because again you are the only one to make the calls. Because the true power is the one who comes inside.

All my clients pay me work temporarily, I am always ready to go. I respect them as they respect me. It is not just something like because I am an elegant lady they help me with luggage, they open doors for me. It is they respect my opinion and they respect me as a strong person inside, they respect my dedication and appreciate my endeavors to reach their goals. Seriously if any of them thought I am a hired baby-sitter. I would simply tell them this is my last day. No matter pay me or not. I am very happy to leave.

First Blog Voice-in-Chinese.com

http://www.voice-in-chinese.com/3/post/2009/07/first-post.html

http://www.voice-in-chinese.com/3/post/2009/07/first-post.html#comments

Uncategorized

In general, business is going to the right direction. For translation the focus finally changed into mainly direct clients, plus couples of overseas agencies. I dont do bucket work with low rate so so quality. My copy writing skill became a big plus. And I also started to cooperate with translators in other languages.

Meanwhile, interpretation service became more comprehensive. To obtain a advance level, it also required flexible people skill and strong analytical skill, the skill to be an artist in the trade of language. My background of 5 years professional experiences in hotel industry, an insurances salesman, freelance writer and amateur photographer ( human landscape) provided a strong foundation for my service to grow and prosper.

In the past 2 years I also learnt what means the most to a service business is not the money, it is the integrity and the talent to make people believe you are trust worthy. Which I am.

In the past month I have to turn down at least 40% enquiry. My shedule is almost full and I indeed believe those client can find others to fulfil there goals, it not necessary to be me. The reason I say no is because I believe they can be safe in other hands, and if not, I am always here. Only a phone call away.

Couples of days ago when I was working with art dealers from US and France. I accidentally took some photos with my SRL camera. It turns out as good as I wouldnt believe. Image I barely remember how to use any other mode beside "auto". I am happy because I can still call myself a photographer. The images below are several of the shots I took. I will never stop shooting, never stop writing, beside languages they are part of my life too and very much important.
